Our Training

Soccer is a game full of complexity in which players attempt to solve challenges as efficiently as possible in real time. We believe that the essence of football is about finding and exploiting space. The quality of a player (and a team) depends on their ability to perceive, decide, and execute within the interrelated spaces within the game in order to outplay the opponent. Therefore, at The Rising Point, we train to develop competent and courageous decision makers who strive for excellence in all that they do. Through teaching positional play and emphasizing the interactions between players, our training is focused on helping each individual read and understand the larger game while also taking ownership of their role within the team. We seek to develop people, and players, whose skills and abilities make others better.

At any given level, the best players and teams constantly display calm and efficient precision that is a direct result of their game insight and attention to detail. Through a combination of dynamic mental challenges, game-based exercises (we play a lot!), and guided questions, we help our athletes to discover and maximize AIR:

A: Awareness. We are constantly observing and gathering information about the world around us.

I: Intentionality. We think and behave with purpose as we pour all of ourselves into every interaction.

R: Responsibility. We are competent and accountable decision makers in any situation.

Having AIR applies as much to being a courageous citizen and compassionate friend as it does to being a good athlete. We are tasked with teaching the game in the context of life, not separate from it. In this way, The Rising Point is about teaching how to play the sport of life by living the game of soccer. On and off the athletic field, when we are actively seeking to enhance the lives and the experiences of those around us, we are reaching higher and discovering the best possible version of ourselves.
